Make it a Sparkling Christmas with Perfectly-placed Decor

Make sure Christmas 2022 is one to remember by pulling out all the stops when it comes to your festive décor. In other words, get accessorising in style. Here at United Furnishings, we have one or two little Christmas decorating tips we’re more than happy to share with you:

Where to put your Christmas Tree

The best spot to sit your beautifully-baubled tree is where it will be seen best. Obviously, the front room or hallway is ideal. Or, if you have a large kitchen where the family tends to congregate, then this is ideal too. Placed in front of a large window maximising viewing from outside too. By the stairs is a good spot in the hallway, and so too is at the side of the fireplace.

Christmas Decorations without overload

The Scandinavians tend to do chic, minimalist Christmas décor. They’ll stick to one or two – typically neutral colours such as white, cream, silver or gold etc. – and coordinate. That way, you can have lots of décor, but it comes across as sophisticated rather than tacky.

The Gunnar iron tree is a perfect example of this ‘say more with less’ look. It’s also very contemporary looking. These twinkling grey glitter Geo baubles will also work well with a simple, coordinated, Nordic Christmas theme.

@idealhome: “Nothing says Christmas more than glittering golds and shimmering silvers, both of which go beautifully with a neutral colour scheme. Swap out sofa cushions and replace them with embellished and beaded options, all in burnished shades of pewter and rose gold.”

Display your decorations to the best effect with Hartleys Rooms

At United Furnishings, we are delighted to be collaborating with custom-made shelving designers Hartleys Rooms. They offer an endless display of high-quality shelving units or clever floating shelves, perfect for every home.

There’s no point having lovely decorations this Christmas if you don’t know the best way to display them. Sure, you can sit ornaments on the floor or a coffee table, but that can make them vulnerable to being knocked over by children and pets. Instead, backlit open shelving can enhance your décor and add atmosphere to your home at the same time. Image how well warm white LED cabinet lighting will add a shine to this lovely Frederick nutcracker soldier ornament. If you don’t already have some suitable storage, then why not have some custom-made cabinetry designed especially for your home?

It’s the finishing touches that make it

We all know it’s the cute, coordinated things that catch our eye or the added cosiness in a room that we just lap up. You don’t have to spend a fortune to achieve this. Instead, think about your accessories. A stylish log basket sitting on the fire hearth, a cosy woollen blanket slung over the end of the sofa or a pine garland with cones casually laid over the window latch – it all adds to the finishing feel of a room.
